Laredo, Texas. (KGNS) – Nearly 2,000 teachers will have a new technology center where they will be able to train after waiting two years for the building.
From computers to interactive smartboards, here’s what Laredo ISD teachers can see at the new center. On Tuesday, October 4th, they held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the building, which will provide teachers and staff with technical training to use in their day-to-day work.
Many Laredo ISD members came together to learn about the different types of training that will be offered. This state-of-the-art technology promises to help teachers enhance student learning in the classroom.
Laredo ISD executive director of technical services Ambrosio Gomez said the building was designed for teachers to train outside of their home campus. “This technical training center is primarily for our employees, this opportunity gives them the opportunity to receive high-quality instructional technology from the campus into equipment they are familiar with. In these labs, they have projectors in their classrooms , so that we can create a connection between the training and what we offer them and what they have on campus,” Gomez said.
The building has multiple interactive classrooms, each of which will provide technical training such as smart boards for approximately 25 teachers. Laredo ISD teachers require at least 20 hours of digital professional study per year. LISD officials said they will also offer virtual training for those who cannot access the tech center. Laredo ISD says they also host technology exhibitions for students, from coding to digital learning.
