WHITESBURG, Ky. (WYMT) – This was a daycare before floodwaters swept through the building.
Now, that space is filled by the Downtown Aesthetics Medical Spa, which brings a new feel to downtown Whiteersburg.
“So, we had this grand vision and I talked to Savannah (Mullins) and we got all the certifications and all the training we needed to be able to open the spa and stick with it,” says owner Rebekah Butler.
Butler and her husband bought the building in the summer hoping to keep the daycare, but then Mother Nature messed up their plans.
“When we wanted to buy the building, we wanted to get it in August, but we were completely overwhelmed and it wouldn’t open until October. So, it delayed us by two months,” Butler said.
The nursery moved away, and suddenly Rebecca Butler had a project on her hands.
After the spa became a reality vision for her and business partner Savannah Mullins, they spent days cleaning up the damage from the flooding.
While not everything is complete, they offer plenty of spa-related options.
“We can do everything from toxin treatments to dermal fillers, lip fillers. We can do jawline fillers to get you pretty and chiseled out there,” says Butler.
With the business going, the owners are ready to show what they are passionate about.
“I think a lot of people have some negative image of places that offer Botox and fillers and think we’re imposing these beauty standards on you when we’re actually coming in and enhancing your natural beauty,” Butler said.
Spa hours vary by schedule, but owners say they offer evening appointments for those who can’t make it on weekdays.
